As the Thanksgiving holiday is quickly approaching, the time calls to take a step back from the chaos of day-to-day living and give thought to all that there is to be thankful for. I have the honor and privilege of working with clients in their homes and offices every day. Often, I have a discussion that involves assessing the quantity of items he or she possesses. Does their inventory of items negatively affect them in some way? Does the stress of keeping up with what they have feel overwhelming on a regular basis? Whether these questions are pertinent to you and your family or not, let us all take time to remind ourselves how fortunate we are to have what we have. I’ll start. Here are some of the many things I am thankful for this year (in no particular order):
I am thankful for my health – At the end of the day, nothing matters more than our physical and mental health. I have had some outright challenging health situations. I am relieved and, oh so grateful, that my health is currently good and holding steady! Boy, am I thankful for that!
I am thankful for my family – I have a wonderful, supportive, loving husband; 2 young adult children who are finding their ways; 2 living parents and 2 living in-laws who are an important part of my life; a sister who is also my best friend. How lucky am I?!
I am thankful for my friends – I am truly blessed to have good friends who I know I can count on for the good, bad and ugly. Some have been with me for decades and some are newer. Whether I see or speak with them regularly or not as often as I’d like, I know they are there for me, and I am thankful for each one!
I am thankful for my Put It There team – What would I do without Eileen, Laura, Ann, Amy, Lili and Christina?!! This ship would definitely not be forging ahead and doing all the good work we do without it being a team effort! Thank you many times over for all you do for me and Put It There!
I am thankful for my clients – The entire Put It There team feels it is truly a privilege to be called in to assist each and every one of our clients. It is not always easy or comfortable. Yet, you have allowed us into your homes and lives so we can help you achieve your organizing goals. We do not take that for granted.
I am thankful for my networking relationships and referral partners – I have built incredible, mutually beneficial relationships with many through the years. Supporting each other’s businesses is so rewarding, and I am immensely thankful for these partnerships.
And, yes, I am thankful for my material possessions – Whether big or small, old or new, I am fortunate to have a nice home with lovely furnishings (ok, a few are ready to be upgraded but still), a wardrobe for all seasons and occasions, my dependable SUV to get me where I need to go, and so much more. I may not hold each one up and regularly proclaim that it brings me joy, but I have more than what I need. Not everyone can say that as I regularly share bags of food and necessities to homeless people.
So, there you have it. My list of all the things I am thankful for this year. I’d love to hear from you, and I wish you a wonderful and meaningful Thanksgiving holiday with your family and friends!
