WHY HIRING A NAPO ORGANIZER IS A GAME CHANGER

August 3, 2026 By //  by MCooperPIT

With great pleasure, I’d like to introduce our guest blogger and esteemed colleague, Ellen Delap, CPO. Ellen’s blog post titled “Why Hiring a NAPO Professional Organizer is a Game Changer” is worth reading if:

1) You are considering hiring an organizer and

2) If you are an organizer who is not a member of NAPO (National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals).

In a world where busy schedules and cluttered spaces are regular situations, the demand for professional organizers has soared. While anyone with a knack for tidiness and a passion for helping others can start an organizing business, it’s a game changer to hire a NAPO professional organizer.

Choose a Real Professional

You don’t want just anyone entering your home. With a NAPO member you’ll know you are hiring a professional that takes their education, ethics, and skills seriously. The association proudly shares the Code of Ethics. The NAPO Code of Ethics is a set of principles that guides our members’ professional conduct with clients and colleagues. Feeling confident that you’re working with a highly skilled professional organizer gives you peace of mind when welcoming them into your home.

Choose the Best Trained

Many clients seek professional organizers because they feel overwhelmed by their space. NAPO members excel in preparation of all sorts for working with you. It’s our pride and joy to stay on top of industry trends and offer you versatile and personalized solutions. Our members have access to a wide network where we share ideas, collaborate on tricky projects, and have access to feedback from peers when we have a challenging assignment.

Our association members love to learn and have earned hundreds of hours in industry education and specialist certificates. NAPO courses prepare members for the most challenging of situations from brain-based conditions like ADHD and chronic disorganization to complex situations due to life transitions and emergencies. More than 325 NAPO members are certified professional organizers® (CPOs®), individuals who have passed a rigorous test and continue to update their training each year. NAPO professional organizers are well trained in communication and project management, which makes your project much easier and even fun!

Choose a Solid Business

NAPO has your back. It’s important to make sure you’re working with a business you can trust. The NAPO Registered & Insured Program helps you find professional who are properly registered and insured in your area. This seal of trust signifies their commitment to running a reputable business. As a client, it provides added peace of mind. If a professional doesn’t display the program logo, be sure to verify their registration and insurance are current.

Hear What Clients Say about Us

As a NAPO member and CPO®, the most common statements after I work with clients are, “I could not have done this without you” and “our work together is life changing.” Whether that is tackling excess paperwork together, decluttering a garage, or establishing better routines in their homes, clients universally feel in control of their environment, have greater peace of mind, and have time for what is most important to them because of working together.

Do your due diligence when researching professional help. The process of decluttering and organizing is intensely vulnerable and intimate—you need someone you can trust, who’s reputable, who’s legit. It’s an investment of your time, money, and energy, so you want it done right the first time. One of the best ways to dive deep into your search is to read Google reviews of your potential hire; NAPO pros work hard to earn consistently high praise!

What’s the Game Changer?

A NAPO member comes fully prepared to listen to you and help you achieve your goals without judgment. You feel immediately at ease and discover how much easier it is to accomplish your project with the help of a pro. It is easier to let go and declutter with an expert organizer by your side.

With the training to work on any project no matter the size, we break your project into manageable pieces. Together we find functional, fun, and beautiful products to help you stay organized.

Some NAPO members will work in your space without you, and you can come home to a beautiful, serene spot. No matter the challenges in your home or at work, a NAPO professional organizer is ready to assist.

Find a professional organizer near you: https://napo.empowereddirectory.com/

Note from editor—Find an organizer whose niche makes them especially equipped to handle working with neurodivergent clients, seniors, people with hoarding disorder, and/or more? Use the drop-down options in the directory to find the professional who is best suited to your unique needs!

Can anyone come in and help you with your organizing needs? Technically, yes. Should you hire anyone to come help? Well, that’s a different story and why hiring a NAPO organizer can indeed be a game changer.

There is no license to obtain or college major for the professional organizing industry. And with a low cost of entry, it is fairly easy to hang up your organizing shingle.

I want to be very clear about a few important points…

1) I feel strongly that there are some VERY good organizers out there who offer a valuable, helpful service. I am in no way saying they are “less than” if they are not a member of our national or local NAPO chapter. That being said, I want to educate the public on what NAPO is and why hiring an organizer who belongs to our organization is a game changer. I maintain that NAPO membership should be on your list of considerations when selecting the right person to come into your home and help you with such a deeply personal process.

2) For those needing organizing assistance whereby there are deeply rooted underlying conditions or habits, you should absolutely do your homework and find an organizer who has the necessary experience. You would be doing yourself a huge disservice otherwise.

Lastly, if you are an organizer who is not a member of NAPO, please come check us out! We will welcome you with open arms as we have a common phrase of “Together We Are Better”. The support, resources and camaraderie you are bound to receive are guaranteed to help you grow your organizing business. For more information, visit www.napo.net and www.Napogeorgia.com.
